Bands/Artists/Music from India #4 - Niraj Chag ( Contemporary, Fusion, World )
Now based in London, Niraj Chag is another great artist in asian underground scene along with acts like Nitin Sawhney, Badmarsh & Shri, Talvin Singh and others. Niraj’s work are completely driven by Indian classical influences. This track called Nomad has to be my favorite composition from him - though i wish those vocal samples in first 30 secs were slightly more subtle.
Bands from India #3 - Midival Punditz ( electroacoustic, IDM )
Midival Punditz is probably the most remarkable & original electronic act from country. Even though their signature sound is all about indian raga and classical music heavily crossed with synth bubble and beats – i am really enjoying this recent electroacoustic track they did with Ankur Tiwari (guitars). Whole track was composed in 6 hours of impromptu jam.
To hear more of their original style, they have some tracks up on myspace
( If there are any gamers around you may know them already because of few features they scored in EA Sport’s FIFA series )
To help the non-scientific community appreciate just how noisy the oceans have become, the project listentothedeep.com streams the live sounds from Vancouver, and 14 other ocean floor “observatories” around the world.

So a client just called and asked me to drop by to a party he is organizing today & asked me what alcohol i would like to drink. When i told him, i don’t really drink, he refuses to believe & got so surprised like i have thrown a bunny on his face -.-
I don’t know how to not act awkward in such conditions.
Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks was an album recorded in 1983 by Brian Eno and was the musical accompaniment to a NASA collection of footage from the Apollo space programme. Never performed live the soundtrack was purely studio work. However four of the original musicians from “The Apollo Project” have brought the original score to life with a performance which took place last Friday at the opening of the New York Guitar Festival at the World Financial Center’s Wintergarden. Prior to the event the musicians; Mike Gordon, Larry Campbell and itsnotyouitsme (Caleb Burhans & Grey McMurray) performed some of the music us on the WNYC radio station’s New Sounds program.
I love this record i never thought this could be performed live because of the so much strange processing and soundscapes it has. You can stream the performance at the link above. A good one hour ambient dive along with conversation with the performers.
